What’s it about
The project is about helping to raise achievement and aspirations for disadvantaged BAME heritage children and young people between the ages of 8-15, particularly those who are underachieving and have low aspirations and confidence. We provide them with a combination of learning support, mentoring and personal and social development activities that helps them to overcome their challenges and widen their opportunities.
What we do
- Raising Achievement ClubRaising Achievement Clubs provide learning support and tuition to help improve academic performance, develop positive attitudes towards learning and increasing the self-confidence of children.
- MentoringIndividual and group mentoring is provided to children and young people needing help and support to address barriers towards learning and achieving and/or personal and social development. From time to time we invite guest speakers, professionals and community role models to deliver powerful reminders and messages to inspire and motivate children to achieve and aspire.
- Experience ActivitiesThese are activities during the holiday periods to aid the personal and social development of children with a particular focus on developing confidence and self-esteem as well as personal skills. The activities also provide “new experiences to children and help to create further interest in education and learning.
